Ideas & Demos

A place for Patrons to hear early demos & help choose what gets made

What all this then!?

Patrons! I’ve created a little behind-the-scenes space here that only you folks have access to. I thought that, as another bonus to supporting the music supply, I’d give you a platform to weigh in on what music gets made.

I’ll be uploading rough demos & ideas here before they are ready to go live on the website. These may be short clips, just written ideas or rough mixes (sometimes really rough, fair warning :). All I need you to do is click the little heart beside anything you like. Only you Patrons have this ability. I’ll take your votes into consideration when deciding what gets polished and posted or what gets scrapped. Woo! Thanks folks!

Sea Change

There’s a lot happening in the world this year. I’ve been trying to process it all and find my role in these positive large-scale changes. This track was a way to help me process the conversations I’ve been having and the action I’ve been taking. If any of you hear potential in it, I’ll continue to develop the rough idea.

Untitled #1

I’ve been plugging my electric in more often lately. Here’s a quick demo I came up with last night. I like something about how the guitar parts coalesce. It reminds me of those early 2000’s indie bands out of the UK. I’m not sure what to call it though, so if you have any ideas please leave them in the comments down below!

True Love, 1980

Sometimes you just have to crank up the cheese factor. I’ve got a soft spot for 80s synths (and it’s super popular now with shows like Stranger Things). This track goes right back to all those John Cusack romcoms of the early 80s – it needs some serious polish but is anyone working on a project that could use some 80s cheese?!

1 Minute Left Demo

This is a quick little demo of a ‘techy’ mellow idea I had. It feels a little science-y to me. Maybe good for a podcast theme. Might need a more lively beat?

Vikings EP

This demo is something I actually want to turn into a whole ‘album’ worth of songs inspired by Viking history. It would be epic, bleak, and powerful. The idea here would be to create a collection of music that is dark, epic, and really visceral – with lots of drones and textures.

Happy Ukuleles

I warned you that some of these demos would be rough….. This demo obviously needs to be re-recorded from the ground up (I recorded it in a big rush just to get the idea down), but are any of you interested in happy ukulele music? Have a need for it?

Eastern Promises

There’s something I really like about this demo but I’ve been struggling with how to complete it. It came out of experimenting with writing in a key called “Hungarian Minor”. Not a key I use very often, but I love how it feels. Would you use this track? Any ideas/suggestions? Please comment down below!

Tears Demo

Oftentimes I’ll build a backdrop and then just riff over top of it until a melody I like emerges. This demo is rough, there are a lot of bad notes sprinkled throughout it, but I liked something about how sad it felt. The sort of indie rock subtle guitar solo that just keeps crying on and on. Think this could be useful?
